I just read some really disturbing facts about online predators, child molestation, even molestation on-demand videos. You might have seen Oprah's show about it yesterday. I'm so sick to my stomach about it. I can't stop thinking about the poor children who are caught in this kind of thing. Did you know that 19% of the images online are of children under the age of 3? And that only 1% of the possessors limit their collecting of such images to just nudity? How can you not help these babies?
Children being raped, desensitized by "training" videos of cartoon characters making molestation seem like a normal part of life. This is happening daily to children as young as three months and even one story was of a baby that still had her umbilical cord stub.We need to act on behalf of these children, many without a voice.
Please do this simple thing right now. Email your senator and urge him or her to pass Senate Bill 1738 - The Protect Our Children Act. This bill will: Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.
Just go here: http://www.senate.gov/, send them the email at the end of this post, or a personalized message in their web form. It takes less than five minutes. Please do this now to help stop more children from becoming victims. You can also call your senator and urge them to pass this bill I heard that a phone call is worth 1000 letters because they received so few. When I called this morning the receptionist said her phone has not stopped ringing all morning, this needed to continue this through next week. Please help stop this evil preying on our children.
Dear Senator:
I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help.Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured.
Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded. As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch).
This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics. Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.
