A Vaction For Two, Please!

I have always wanted to stay in a Bed and Breakfast but have had my reservations. But Jeffrey and I finally had the chance to give it whirl and now we are hooked! As soon as school was out we took off to Hot Springs for a romantic getaway to just enjoy one another and fall in love all over again. But Jeffrey had me bit nervous that it wasn't going to be as romantic as I had pictured it in my head. A few days before we left Jeffrey told me that he found us a really good deal on a place to stay that would save us a lot money. Near the lake, he found an old fisherman's lodge that they turned into a motel and the rooms were only $70.00 a night. I immediately demanded that he pull it up on the computer so I could see but he wouldn't because he said that he didn't want me to judge it. And he figured once I got there I would just be so happy to be alone with him that it wouldn't matter where we were staying (does he not know me?). So I start Googling motel's on the lake and I found one that fit his description perfectly, I was VERY upset with him! Up until we left I let him know that I am not happy about where we are staying and when we arrived and pulled up to the place I found online I nearly started to cry. But while I was waiting in the car for him to check us in, I decided to suck it up and have a good time (I would just burn all our clothes when we got home and deal with bed bugs later). So he got back in the car and said that we can't go to our room yet b/c they just had a weekend fishing contest and that they needed more time to clean the rooms so we would have to come back in a few hours. I felt nauseous. Okay, so while I think we are driving around looking for lunch Jeffrey pulls up to this beautiful Bed and Breakfast and says, "Let's see if we can eat here.". I told him it doesn't work that way and was panicking that he was going to embarrass me b/c he was getting out of the car. Finally, he had to spell it out to his naive wife that this was where we were really staying! I was ecstatic! I love it when he surprises me (which isn't that hard to do) and when he is so romantic that he does something out of his comfort zone for me.

This is were we stayed and I completely recommend it to anyone heading that way. It's the Williams-Wooten House 1890. It was the first Bed and Breakfast in the state of Arkansas. The story of this house it absolutely amazing. Jeffrey and I both were really into hearing all the history of the Wooten house. As a matter of fact some our questions Kathy (the owner) couldn't even answer but she offered us a free night stay if we could do some research downtown and fill in some of the blanks. One of my favorite facts about this house is that a huge wild fire swept Hot Springs and was burning everything in it's path. But Mr. Williams being the rich prominent man he was, was going to do everything he could to protect his house. So he had everyone he knew pumping water from the well into buckets and pouring it on and around the house and carriage house to save them. For over five miles in every direction around the house everything in the path of the fire burned!

Our room. I've always wanted to sleep in a round room! I wish I had one in my house, I always thought I could make it into a beautiful nursery.

Annie was the cook and trust me when I say you did not want to miss her breakfast!

The tub. For two. No need to say more.

Sightseeing downtown: Remember this guy from the movie 'Big'? Jeffrey said he's always wanted to try a Zoltar machine, who knew he had to go to Hot Springs to do it?

One of the springs. We had contest to see who could hold their finger in the water the longest and neither one of us lasted more than 10 seconds. Did you know that it takes 4,000 years for the water to come to the surface? Jeffrey is so much fun to go places with b/c he researches everything before he gets there, he's my own personal tour guide.

Downtown Hot Springs

This is Bath House Row. There is only one of the Bath Houses open that still uses all the original equipment and that's the experience that I wanted! At first, I felt weird allowing someone else give me a bath when I am completely healthy and capable, but after I got naked and they wrapped me in a toga and started pampering me....I was so into it! Some of the equipment scared me b/c they looked liked torcher cambers but overall it was a relaxing and unique experience that I would do again.

This was a hike that I made Jeffrey go on one morning with me (up and down it). Going up was so hard b/c it was very steep but I was more nervous coming down. It was one of my favorite things we did, I loved being alone with him on a moutain with no outside distraction's.

What vacation would be complete without Putt-Putt?

I had Jeffrey take about a dozen pictures of me with hydrangeas b/c they were just so pretty and vibrant unlike the one's here in Texas.
